Summer use
In order to quickly cool down the temperature in your car you should:
- Open your windows.
- Turn on the air condition and turn on the fan on the highest speed.
- Adjust your air vents on external air.
- Drive your car for 5 minutes (enough time to reduce excessively high temperatures).
- Close the windows and turn on air recirculation.
- Lower the fan intensity by one speed down (you may keep this setting for as long as it takes to achieve a pleasant cabin temperature, and then reduce the fan intensity by one or two speeds depending on your needs).
- From time to time you may need to increase the fan speed to circulate the air.
- During the summer time, the vehicle's heater control should be on the cold air indicator. You may use the heater if the air conditioner is too strong, but always remember to turn the switch on cold air when you are done.
- The most effective way to operate your air condition is to turn on air recirculation, although from time to time you may need to switch external air. In this way, you will remove exhaust air and any unwanted odors from the evaporator.
- It is advisable to turn off the air condition 1-2 minutes before reaching your destination leaving the fan on. In this way the evaporator dries, thus eliminating the growth of fungi that thrive in humid environments.
- YOU MUST USE EXTERNAL AIR ONLY IF:
- You are smokers.
- You are carrying ready made meals or in general smelly objects.
- Usually, the car freshener can cause microorganisms to grow in the evaporator.
Winter use
- To achieve quick demisting of your windscreen during the winter operate simultaneously the air conditioner with the heater and adjust the sunction of external air.
- Do not use the air conditioner if the external temperature is below 5°C.
- If you air conditioner is automatic, by setting the ECON you can turn off the cooling, thus reducing consumption.
Additional tips to follow regardless of the season
- Turn on your air conditioner at least once a week for 10 minutes regardless of the season. This ensures that all the fiiting connections are lubricated.
- If you hear an unusual noise, contact an authorized workshop immediately.
- Always perform the annual service and preventative clean of the system.
- ATTENTION! Do not ever try to repair the air condition yourself, nor try to intervene in it in any way. Your air conditioner contains high pressure gas that can injure you if the necessary precautions are not taken. Only qualified personel with proper training can interven in the air conditioner.
- The new technology air conditioners use continuous operation compressors. These are designed to gradually activate, and for this reason, you should not turn your air conditioner when the car is moving at high speeds, as the clutch may become damaged. Therefore, we suggest that you are informed about the type of compressor your car has, in order for you to handle it accordingly.
